Biography

Mo Hayder is an author of crime and thriller fiction.

She left school at 15, and after a series of jobs, studied for an MA in film from the American University in Washington, and an MA in Creative Writing at Bath Spa University.

Her first novel, Birdman (2000) was a bestseller, and introduced Detective Inspector Jack Caffrey, who also appeared in her second book, The Treatment (2001). Tokyo (2004), was shortlisted for three Crime Writers' Association Daggers. Pig Island (2006) was her fourth bestseller and was nominated for both a Barry Award and a CWA Dagger. 

Her latter novels, Ritual (2008), Skin (2009), Gone (2010), Poppet (2013) and Wolf (2014) are collectively known as the 'Walking Man' Series and reintroduce DI Jack Caffrey. Ritual and Gone were shortlisted for a Crime Writers' Association Ian Fleming Steel Dagger Award, and Ritual for a 2009 Theakstons Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year award. 

Mo Hayder lives in the Cotswolds.
