The British Council in Argentina invited Richard T Kelly, author of novels such as Crusaders and The Posessions of Doctor Forrest to work with young writers in Buenos Aires as part of the Dickens 2012 programme.
And gazing around the grandeur of the Plaza de Mayo, a seeming embodiment of the nation's history and economy, you could also pick up on a strong sense of present-day political activism. Even only as a game, the thought did of course occur: ‘What might a Dickens have made of all this...?’
Armed with a pen, paper and 30 writers, Richard T Kelly re-counts his experiences of finding the next 'Boz' in Argentina.
